Synopsis
|
In
the year 1588
Queen Elizabeth I
was
assassinated.
The Spanish Armada
swept to victory
over the English -
and the whole
course of world
history was
astonishingly
changed.
In the year
1968 we find
ourselves in a
green and pleasant
England ruled by
the Church of
Rome. There
has been no
Waterloo, no
Passchendaele or
Belsen.
There are trains
and primitive
semaphore systems,
but no telephone,
no television, no
H-bomb.
Catholicism and
the Inquisition
exert their
repressive grip,
but rebellion is
brewing, for the
forces of progress
and science will
no longer be
restrained ... |
