You
could almost live
forever in this
world of the
Immortals - but
not all in one
piece in your own
body. If you
slipped up on your
insurance payments
you would
disappear into the
heart and liver
bank, the artery
bank - more
medical banks than
any sensible
citizen wanted to
think about.
Civilization had
'progressed' this
far because rich
old men had
smelled the sweet
scent of
immortality.
They were going to
piece out their
lives, using less
fortunate bodies,
until they could
drain the blood of
the true Immortals
into their own
veins - and live
forever ...
It was a world
of utter peril and
crippling fear
with one bright
thread running
through it - the
golden blood of
the
Immortals.
And they were
cruelly pusued by
rulers, rich men
and medics because
their precious
blood was a
specific for all
of mankind's ills
- including
death.
Beautiful and
young, aged and
wise, the
Immortals lived a
subterranean
existence, hiding
from those who
would batten on
them and bleed
them - to death
